A 'Supplier to Buyer' an event for anyone involved in the tourism industry, leisure and hospitality in South-West Wales - was held at the Visit Wales Roadshow in Withybush, Haverfordwest on February 3rd.

The event will also see the launch of Ffres - an exciting new web-based initiative at www.ffres.org designed to bring all those involved in the burgeoning food tourism sector in the region closer together.

Food is a significant aspect of the tourist's experience of a destination, driven by the growing trends of authenticity, localism and the need to have a high-quality experience.

"Ffres exists to help us all strengthen and improve our businesses and therefore develop the offering of the region as a whole - and we all stand to gain from that."

"Ffres is a place we can come to find about each other, establish better links, and learn what's going on in terms of promotions and events. It's a place where we can strengthen the links in our regional food chain by putting people in touch and finding new and innovative ways to do business together.

The Ffres website www.ffres.org will be a vehicle for food producers and the hospitality sector in SWW to:
• Find out about the latest news and events
• Source fantastic local ingredients through the directory which is searchable by product as well as business.
• Tap into established distribution channels
• Talk to like-minded professionals on online membership forums
• Access tailored Ffres training, like the Food Workshops for B&B's through www.gallu.org.uk Field to Fork Events are also being developed by Simon Wright of Y Polyn The aim of the day is to see food at it most natural state i.e. walking around a field and then throughout the day follow its journey until it ends up on your plate. This will also be a social gathering for chefs and food enthusiasts please see the Gallu website for details. www.gallu.org.uk

Ffres hopes that the website will assist collaboration between businesses by bringing producers, retailers, chefs and end-users closer together for the good of the whole industry.

"If you're involved in food tourism in South West Wales, then Ffres is for you," said Gary Davies, Regional Strategy Director of the South West Wales Tourism Partnership (SWWTP).
